Main Ingredients
Oxomet® is rich in S-adenosyl methionine (SAMe), a fermentation product from the yeast S. cerevisiae. SAMe is particularly important in liver cells and can positively influence the metabolism of the entire organism. It participates in the synthesis of Glutathione, which is the main defense mechanism against oxidative stress. It can effectively detoxify harmful molecules, make them soluble and promote excretion. Glutathione also protects liver cells from deterioration and cell death (apoptosis).
When the liver is damaged, the activity of SAMe synthase decreases, the amount of SAMe synthesized decreases, and the synthesis of glutathione is limited. As the glutathione concentration decreases, it is not enough to protect the SAMe synthesizing enzyme from oxidative damage, causing the synthesis of SAMe to further decrease, forming a vicious cycle that may eventually lead to liver failure and affect the metabolism of the entire body. It is recommended that fasting be done overnight if possible prior to administration of the tablets to ensure an empty stomach for optimal absorption of the active ingredient. If fasting overnight is not possible, wait at least 2 hours (preferably longer) after eating before giving the tablet. After administration, it is recommended to wait at least 1 hour before feeding your pet.
You can always gradually adjust the number of tablets given, based on your veterinarian's advice.
